I was shocked and saddened to learn of Ryan's passing. Ryan was one of my students when I taught 5th grade at Hugh R. Jones School in south Utica. He was a nice boy. Many years later I learned he owned a bar on Charlotte St. in Utica and I stopped in to see him but he wasn't there at the time. In honor of his memory, I will help a family friend whose husband just passed away very suddenly. Rest in peace, Ryan. Francis T. Roy

I worked with Ryan about 5 years 4 at oscugnizzos in Washington Mills and a short time at backstreets brewing company. We made each other laugh even when stressed out. I was also his wing man when he asked Hillary on there first date. He was beyond in love with her. I'll miss his laugh and sense of humor. He used to tell me I drove like an old lady! Lol

To my brother from another… A BIG piece of us is gone. You were more than a best friend, you were like an actual brother to me. Along with a good handful of my other brothers (you know who you all are). You left us entirely too soon, and with a lot of pain, but I know you wouldn’t want to see us upset. I’m grateful I got to spend every night with you last time I visited, and got to meet your daughter for the first time with you. I’m also grateful for a lifetime of priceless memories that will be with me forever. Life without you will be difficult for us, but we will remain strong and heal with time. I feel that’s what you’d want. We will make sure to honor your name, and help your family if or when the time comes, because you’d do the same for us. Your spirit will never fade and it carries on with your daughter, Scarlett. I know she will be well looked after by Hil and your mom, and countless uncles. It’s not goodbye forever, it’s goodbye for now. I hope we see each other again one day in another life. Love you forever brother.

Q: What was one of your favorite qualities of Ryan? A: I remember back in 1993 when I first met Ryan. I had a crush him.
