Mrs. Emma R. Rauscher, 95, a resident of the Masonic Care Community, Utica, formerly of Hilton Ave., Utica, passed away on Wednesday February 23, 2022 at the nursing home. Emma was born in Whitesboro, NY, on May 23, 1926, the daughter of John and Grace (Lamphere) Slawson and received her education in Whitesboro schools. On November 29, 1947, Emma was united in marriage with Edward “Pete” Rauscher, Jr., at St. Agnes Church in Utica, a loving and devoted union of 53 years until Edward’s death in 2000. For a short time, Emma was employed with St. Agnes Church rectory. She truly enjoyed hunting and fishing with her husband, Pete, as well as sewing, knitting, bowling, ceramics and making candy. She was also a big NY Yankees fan and was of the Catholic faith. Mrs. Rauscher is survived by two daughters and one son-in-law, Denise and Bob Mazza of Westmoreland and Dawn Arabia and her companion, Joe Gottuso of Holland Patent; one son and daughter-in-law, Peter and Joanne Rauscher of Holland Patent; eight cherished grandchildren, Dennis Mazza, Christina Fullum, Amy Mazza, Danielle Rauscher, Tracy Kernan and her husband, Ryan, Jessica Rauscher, Alexis Arabia and her fiancée Bebo Guzman and Daniel Arabia and his wife Kayla; two dear friends, Theresa Pitrel and Joyce Borrill, as well as 16 great grandchildren, one great great grandson and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her sister, Irene Slawson and brother, John Slawson. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to Mrs. Rauscher’s funeral service on Tuesday, March 1, 2022 at 10:30 a.m. at Mount Olivet Cemetery Chapel, 70 Wood Lane, Whitesboro.
