I am lighting a candle for you here on your birthday. I wish the candle could be on a cake and you could make a wish and blow it out. In the end, you told me about a wish. You did not want to leave your grandchildren because you wanted to be sure they would have faith in their lives. My gift to you on your birthday is to let you know that I try everyday to grant your wish. When I am at a loss, I think, "What would Susan do?"..."What would Grandma tell her grandchildren?" When I think this, answers come to me. And that's not all. Comfort comes too. So as I say I am trying to honor your wishes, it may just be that you are following through on your plans. Through me and your son you are there for Kimberly, Bethany, Jack and Rachael too. We feel your presence and you help us along, something you've always done so well. So your grandchildren will keep the faith, as will I, thanks to you and your faith. So go ahead, make your wish and blow out your candle! Happy Birthday, dear Susan.

Way back when I was raising my family in North Utica, I had the pleasure of knowing Susan from Dr S Finer's dental office. Her beauty was probably the first thing one noticed but my kids loved to go to the dentist and see Susan. The years went by, they grew up and lo and behold, many, many years later, Susan reappeared in my life after she married Peter. The Joy of the Lord was all over her face and her actions. It was a special gift to me from the Lord to reconnect with her. Because of her tremendous faith, I know she is up and on her way to touch the face of God. May the Lord Jesus wrap his arms around you and hold you close to him in the days and nights ahead. Susan will never be a memory, she will always be a presence in the lives of all who knew her. I was blessed she left her footprints on my heart.

Susan, Barbara and Stephen, I was so saddened to hear of your mother's passing. She was truly one of the kindest women I had ever met and was a true reflection of what a Christian woman is suppose to be. I will never forget the compassion and love that she showed all of us as we were growing up. She was the one person in the neighborhood we always held in such high regard because of her kindness and gentle spirit. Even after your family moved away, she always had a kind word to extend to us when we saw each other...for that too we will be forever grateful. I pray that God will comfort all of you and that your memories of your beautiful mother will keep her alive in your hearts until you are all reunited with her someday.
