Herbert H. Liebhaber, Jr., 82, a resident of the Sitrin Health Care Center, formerly of Utica, passed away Tuesday, January 22, 2008 at the home. Herbert was born on February 2, 1925 in Greensburg, PA, the son of Herbert H. and Edna (Hahn) Liebhaber. He was raised and educated locally. Herbert served his country with the US Navy during World War II. He went on to work for the US Postal Service for 37 years before retiring in the late 1980's. Herbert was a member of St. Joseph & St. Patrick Church, Utica. Herbert is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Herbert H. III and Sachiyo Liebhaber, Utica; a granddaughter, Lauren Liebhaber, Utica; a sister, Doris Potaczala, Utica; and a brother-in-law, Donald Clark. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by a sister, Mildred Clark. Mr. Liebhaber's funeral will be held on Friday, January 25, 2008 at 12:00 pm at St. Joseph & St Patrick Church, Utica where his Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Interment will follow in St. Joseph's Cemetery, Utica. There are no calling hours. Herbert's family will greet guests at the church from 11:30 ? 12:00, prior to the Mass. In lieu of flowers, those wishing may donate to the Stevens-Swan Humane Society, 5664 Horatio Street, Utica, NY 13502 in Herbert's memory. Arrangement are entrusted to the Heintz Funeral Home, 1517 Whitesboro St., Utica.
