Mrs. Patricia A. Lorento, affectionately known to family and friends as Pat, age 90, of Utica, passed away on Saturday, January 30, 2021 at Faxton-St. Luke’s Healthcare, with her loving family by her side. Patricia was born in Oswego, NY on October 13, 1930, the daughter of Leon and Maude (Strauss) Bates. She spent part of her youth in Oswego and Syracuse, before moving to Utica, where she was a graduate of St. Francis de Sales High School. On December 1, 1951, Pat was united in marriage with Michael A. Lorento at Our Lady of Lourdes Church in Utica, a loving union of 60 years, until Michael’s death in 2012. At one time, Pat was employed as a home health aide with Visiting Nurses Association. She enjoyed spending time at the Parkway Senior Center where she could visit with her many friends. She also enjoyed cooking and baking and was famous for her biscuits and sausage roll. Pat was a devout Catholic and a longtime parishioner of Our lady of Lourdes Church, where she also served on the bereavement ministry. Pat will be remembered as a true lady who always carried herself with grace and dignity. Mrs. Lorento is survived by seven daughters and five sons-in-law, Donna and Andrew Manley of Deerfield, Barbara and Doug Ellis of N. Utica, Theresa and Charles Haddad of N. Utica, Mary and Rene Bruyere of NC, Patricia and Thomas Gogola of Clinton, Kathy Lorento of Utica and Christine LaBarbera of NC; two sons and one daughter-in-law, Michael J. and Dianne Lorento of IL and Brian Lorento of Utica; 15 cherished grandchildren, Todd and Stacey Manley, Ryan Manley, Nicole Manley, Gary and Shannon Lorento, Jamie Meyers, Tori Ellis, Zachary Ellis, Sarah and Josh Jodlowski, Mickey Lorento, Matthew and Kristina Gogola, Cory Gogola, Alexandra Casamento, Joseph Casamento, Anthony LaBarbera and Michael LaBarbera; 10 adored great grandchildren, Andrew Manley, Cameron Manley, Maddison Manley, Logan VanDoren, Cody Manley, Bianca Timpano, Peyton Henry, Ryeley Zalocha, Molly Smith and Marina Smith; one sister and brother-in-law, Mary and Edward McDermott of Buffalo; one brother, Gerald Bates of New Mexico, as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by a grandson, Bobby Lorento, one sister, Elizabeth Bates and one brother James Bates. Mrs. Lorento’s memorial Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, February 10, 2021 at 1:00 p.m. at Our lady of Lourdes Church in Utica. Face coverings are required in church and social distancing and contact tracing protocols must be observed. A special thank you to Robin, Pat, Chris, Darlene and T.T. for the love and care you also showed our mom. Your kindness will not be forgotten. Mom, the love your family had for you was immeasurable.
