Mrs. Eleanor Nayda, 89, a resident of the Presbyterian Home for CNY, passed away on Friday, September 11, 2021 at the nursing home with her loving family by her side. Eleanor was born in Utica, the daughter of Walter and Agnes (Lash) Jodlowski. She was raised in Utica, was a graduate of Utica Free Academy and proudly served in the US Air Force during the Korean War. In March of 1959, Eleanor was united in marriage with Frank G. Nayda, a devoted union of 28 years until Frank's death in 1987. Mrs. Nayda is survived by her four children; Deborah (Charles, Sr.) McGinnis of Austin, TX, Stephen Nayda of Rome, Susan (Joseph) Greiner of New Hartford and Jeffrey (Marguerite H. Sasson, MD) Nayda of New Hartford; two cherished grandsons, Trevor McGinnis and Charles (Malissa Allred) McGinnis, Jr.; two adored great-grandchildren, Conor and Fiona McGinnis; one sister, Barbara Fritz of Delaware as well as several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by four siblings. Mrs. Nayda’s Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, September 17, 2021 at 10:00 a.m. at the Church of The Sacred Heart and St. Mary, Our Lady of Czestochowa, New York Mills. Her burial will be in St. Stanislaus and Casimir Cemetery in Whitesboro.
