James M. Wing, 63, of Marcy, passed away on Tuesday, September 14, 2021, at MVHS (St. Elizabeth’s), with his loving wife and daughters by his side. James was born in Utica, on March 28, 1958, son of late Wendell and Rita (Palitsch) Wing. He was educated in Utica (JFK school) Class of 1976 and then continued his schooling at MVCC receiving an associate’s degree. He was united in marriage on June 8, 1985 to Mary Ellen Caldwell at St. Joseph and St. Patrick Catholic Church, Utica. He was most recently employed by St. Luke’s Health Care and then MVHS as the Bio Med Supervisor until his retirement a short time ago. Jim enjoyed in his spare time collecting pipes, painting, and writing poetry. Most of all he enjoyed his vacuum tube collection that he spent creating many things such as amps. He is survived by his wife of 36 years Mary Ellen, his daughters Sabrina Wing and her significant other Michael Miner, Rome, Valerie Wing and her significant other Steven Parker and Steven’s son Mason that he considered his grandson, Camden, two brothers Daniel Wing and his wife Joyce, Syracuse, Thomas Wing and his wife Colleen, Frankfort, sisters-in-law Joanne Milbyer, Sandy Caldwell, brothers-in-law Mark Caldwell and his girl friend Joyce, Michael Caldwell and his wife Robin and several nieces, nephews and cousins. He is predeceased by his parents Wendell and Rita Wing, his mother-in-law and father-in-law Maurice and Josephine Caldwell and brother-in-law James Caldwell. Calling hours for Mr. James Wing will be held on Saturday, September 18, 2021 from 11-1 at the Heintz Funeral Home, 1517 Whitesboro Street, Utica, NY 13502. A funeral service will follow at 1:00 pm with the Rev. Wally Plock officiating. Interment will take place privately at the convenience of the family. The family would like to thank St. Elizabeth’s Medical Center ICU, doctors and nurses as well as Dr. Young, Dr. Meyer and Kari Moorehead, PA for their care and compassion.
