Roberta Mae Moore Obituary

Roberta Mae Moore Obituary

Formerly a longtime resident of Utica NY, Roberta Mae Moore passed away peacefully in her sleep June 19, 2023, after a brief illness in Raleigh NC.

Born in Utica, NY on March 10, 1936, the daughter of Robert Zeuren and Agnes (Healey) she attended local schools graduating from St Francis DeSales High School class of 1954.

On May 25, 1957, Roberta married “the love of her life” Robert J. Moore at Sacred Heart Church in Utica, NY. They enjoyed 42 years of a truly blessed union until Bob’s passing in 1999. At one time Roberta was employed at the Savings Bank of Utica in downtown Utica, a career she found very rewarding. Her most enjoyable “career” however was awesome wife, mom, daughter, sister, aunt, grandmother, great grandmother and friend to so many. She absolutely loved the many years she spent on Piseco lake with her husband and their close-knit group of friends playing cards and out on the lake in the pontoon boat (when Bob could get it started).

Roberta is survived by her 3 children, Michael (Sharon) Utica NY, Dennis, Clinton NY, Bob and his wife Holly of Raleigh NC. She also leaves 5 cherished grandchildren, Patrick, Hamilton NY, Matthew, Chicago IL, Luke and his wife Megan, Conway SC, Madison and Grace of Raleigh NC a very special great granddaughter, Charlie Beth of Conway SC and sister-in-law Mary “Pat” Moore, as well as several nieces, nephews and many dear friends. She was predeceased by her parents, Robert and Agnes Zeuren, her in laws, Charles and Elizabeth Moore, a beloved sister Shirley Steeper and her husband Jack and brother-in-law Richard Moore.

Roberta endured her illness with grace and dignity. In just a few days before her passing, she was aware that her youngest granddaughter graduated high school and met for the first time her newborn great granddaughter. And although communicating at times was difficult for her, we all heard her say “today was a great day and the best visit ever”.

Strong in her catholic faith, Roberta was an active member of her parish, St Francis of Assisi Church in Raleigh NC. In Roberta’s memory, relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend a celebration of life mass at Historic St John’s Church downtown Utica, Friday, July 14 at 10:00am. She will be laid to rest next to her husband in Mount Olivet Cemetery, Whitesboro, NY. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to a charity of your choice in Roberta’s memory.
