Patricia A. Hamilton Obituary

     Patricia A. Hamilton, 66, of N. Utica, passed away on Monday, April 8, 2024, at Wynn Hospital in Utica.


     Patricia was born in Utica on September 27, 1957, the daughter of Eddie Hamilton and Ruby (Ruth) McNeil. She was raised in Utica, was a graduate of UFA, Union College and SUNY Binghamton. Patricia continued her education at Thurman Thomas School of Law in Texas, where she earned her Doctor of Law degree. At one time, Patricia was the director of the Cosmopolitan Center in Utica and more recently until her retirement, with Oneida County Department of Child Protective Services. She was a diehard Dallas Cowboys fan; a devoted member of St. Paul’s Baptist Church in Utica and her greatest joy was mentoring the countless children she so lovingly cared for.


     Patricia is survived by her cherished nephew, James McNeil whom she raised; her sister, Sandy McNeil; brother, Fred McNeil; nieces and nephews, Shelly Smith, Sean Smith, Doug Smith, Robert Smith, Tina Smith, Rhonda McNeil, Jeff McNeil, Olivia McNeil, and Sal Booth as well as many great nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents, Eddie and Ruby and sister, Gloria Smith.


     In keeping with Patricia’s wishes, there are no calling hours. Patricia’s family will honor her in a private service. She will be laid to rest in Forest Hill Cemetery in Utica.
