Mr. Gary J. Rogowski, Sr., 76, of the Town of Schuyler, passed away after a long illness on Saturday, December 28, 2024, at his home, surrounded by his loving family.

     Gary was born in Utica, on December 9, 1948, the son of the late Frank Sr. and Jessie (Piotrowski) Rogowski.  Gary was raised in Utica and attended Utica schools.  Gary proudly served in the US Air Force and the National Guard and was honorably discharged after several years of loyal service.  

     On May 8, 1971, then again on June 15, 1976, Gary was united in marriage to Verna P. Lee, a blessed union of 53 years.  Gary retired in 2012  from Mohawk Valley Community College, where he was employed as a security guard for 35 years. In his spare time, he enjoyed Ham Radio and spending time outdoors camping, hunting, and fishing. 

     Gary is survived by his beloved wife Verna; his canine companion Ellie; his daughter, Jennifer Tran, Marcy; his sons, Gary Rogowski Jr., Ilion, Marc Rogowski, Schuyler, Scott Rogowski (Lisa), Whitesboro; his sisters, Patricia Monopoli, New Hartford, Tina Delfino (Frank), Yorkville; his grandchildren, Nicole Bruzzese (Fred III), Marlana Tran, Kimberly VanCourt (Bill), Katrina Tran, Ale’xandria Rogowski, Scott Rogowski, Jr., Nicholas Rogowski; his great grandchildren, Freddy Bruzzese IV, Bennett Bruzzese, and Simon VanCourt; and several nieces and nephews.  Gary was predeceased by his parents, Frank and Jessie, and his brothers, Frank Jr. and Wayne Rogowski.

     Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend calling hours on Friday, January 3, 2025, from 3pm-5pm at Heintz Funeral Service, Inc., 408 Herkimer Road, Utica, NY. A funeral reception will immediately follow at the American Legion 229, 409 Herkimer Road, Utica, NY.
