Mrs. Geraldine A. Cardona, 80, of Utica, passed away on Tuesday, December 31, 2024, at The Pines at Utica Skilled Nursing Facility with her loving family by her side.

     Geraldine was born in Utica, on May 2, 1944, the daughter of John and Wanda (Zielinski) Sikora. She was raised and educated in Utica and was a graduate of Utica Free Academy. On September 7, 1974, Geraldine was united in marriage with William “Paco” Cardona, a loving and devoted union of 50 years. At one time, Geraldine was employed with the Masonic Care Community in Utica and for many years with Mohawk Valley Psychiatric Center, retiring in 2004. She was a member of AARP and CSEA local 940.

     Mrs. Cardona is survived by her loving husband, William “Paco”; two daughters, Leah Bosque and Andrea Gonzalez; one son, Juan Bosque; stepdaughter, Brenda (Derrick) Clements; six cherished grandchildren, Audrey, Alicia, Angel, Jasmine, Manuel and Juan, Jr.; two sisters, Johann DeCicco and Karen Sikora as well as several great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents, John and Wanda; sister, Dolores “DeeDee” Szczesniak; brother, John Sikora and brother-in-law, Joseph DeCicco.

     Visitation for family and friends is Sunday, January 5, 2025, from 3:00-5:00 p.m. at the Heintz Funeral Home, 1517 Whitesboro St., Utica, followed by a funeral service at 5:00 p.m. at the conclusion of visitation. She will be laid to rest in Carr Cemetery in Marcy in the spring. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to the Hospice Abraham House, 1203 Kemble St., Utica, NY 13501 in Geraldine’s memory.

     Mrs. Cardona’s family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the doctors, nurses and staff at the Pines at Utica, especially fourth floor, for the loving care and compassion you provided to Geraldine. Your kindness will not be forgotten.
