Obituary of Alan R. Stein

    Mr. Alan R. Stein, 83, who resided with his wife in Remsen NY, formerly of Sauquoit, NY, passed away Friday, January 31, 2025, at Wynn Hospital, Utica, NY after a long illness.
    

     He was born in New Hartford, NY, on October 10, 1941, the son George K. and Frances (Thomas) Stein. He was raised and educated in New Hartford, NY schools and graduated in June of 1959. On April 25, 1964, Alan married Dorlene C. Wolcott (of Depew, NY) in Lancaster, NY. Mrs. Dorlene Stein passed away November 26, 2024. Alan was employed by Mohawk Valley Community College, Utica, NY as a Groundskeeper & Supervisor Groundskeeper, from November 1985 until retiring on November 27, 2003. He also worked as a semi-driver for various other employers for over 20 years. Alan is a veteran and served in the United States Air force from October 1960 until October 1962.

      Alan loved gardening and puttering out in the yard, as well as watching action movies and playing on his kindle. He also loved and enjoyed being with his grandchildren and great grandchildren and often spoke of the past experiences with the trucks he use to drive and the planes he use to come in contact with in the Air Force.

     Mr. Stein is survived by his two daughters, Terry C. and Robert E. Williams of Clinton, NY, and Renee A. and Thomas Ciszek, Jr. of Spring Hill, Florida; his brother, Thomas Stein and his fiancée Brenda Fosella of Rome, NY; his brother-in-law, John and his wife Linda (deceased) Wolcott of Pendleton, NY; four cherished grandsons, Logan A. Williams of Remsen, NY, and Dakota L. Williams, of Clinton, NY, Caleb S. Ciszek, of Spring Hill, Florida and Marcus A. Ciszek and his significant other LeAnn McLeod of Littleton, Colorado; two great grandsons, Isaac A. & Jacob M. Williams of Remsen, NY; cousin, Janice Mangini of Rushville, NY; two nephews, M. Shawn & Tammy Wolcott of Amherst, NY and Robert Wolcott of Lancaster, NY, as well as three great grand nephews and one great grand niece.

    Visitation for family and friends is Thursday, February 6, 2025, from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. at the Heintz Funeral Home, 1517 Whitesboro St., Utica. A spring interment will be in Crown Hill Memorial Park. Those wishing to donate in Alan’s memory may consider St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 or Hospice & Palliative Care, Inc., 4277 Middle Settlement Rd., New Hartford, NY 13413.  Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
