Obituary of Patricia E. Iwanyszyn
Mrs. Patricia E. Iwanyszyn, 74, of Utica, passed away on Wednesday, February 5, 2025, at the Pines of Utica, with her family by her side.
Patricia, a lifelong Utica native, was born on July 25, 1950. She is the daughter of the late Hugh Pullman and Anna May (Monaghan) Pullman. She was a graduate of Utica Free Academy. On May 27, 1972, Patricia was united in marriage with Wladymyr “Walter” Iwanyszyn at St. Vladimir Ukrainian Catholic Church. Walter predeceased her on February 3, 2023. At one time she worked as a nurse’s aide at Broadacres Nursing Home where she met her best friend, Adrienne Giglio. Patricia would reminisce fondly of the patients she cared for at Broadacres, but her great joy was her service to her family as a housewife and mother. She enjoyed caring for not only her own children, but for her many nieces and nephews as well. Patty and Walt’s home was a meeting place for doughnuts and coffee after Sunday mass, for large family meals during the holidays, and for movie nights on the weekends with fresh bowls of popcorn. Patty was fun, loving and always enjoyed dressing up for Halloween and preparing snacks for New Year’s Eve. She loved good music and dancing and could get down with the best of them including her sisters. She enjoyed planning family reunions every year, get togethers at the various NY lakes. On quiet nights she would watch her favorite game shows Jeopardy and Wheel of Fortune, even having a chance to try out for the show at one time. Patty also loved rescuing animals, caring and loving for many cats over the years.
Patricia is survived by her children Regina (Jim) Aiello, VA, Hillary Iwanyszyn and her companion Joe Potaczala, Gregory Iwanyszyn, Michael Iwanyszyn and his companion Kirsten Parry, Patrick Iwanyszyn, Jeremy Iwanyszyn, all of Utica, sisters Janice (Larry) Becker, Syracuse, Regina (David) Sager, AZ, Chistine Pullman, Utica, brothers Stephen (Doris) Pullman, Daniel Pullman, Robert Pullman, Thomas (Bonnie) Pullman, all of Utica, grandchildren Tyler D’Amico, Nolan and Lily Aiello, Cirilla Potaczala, her best friend Adrienne Giglio and several other cherished nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her father Hugh and stepmother Francis, her mother Anna May, her husband Walter, infant children Joseph and Elizabeth, her sister Susan Zumpano and brother-in-law David Sager.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to Patricia’s memorial Mass of Christian Burial on Saturday, February 15, 2025, at 10:00AM, from St. Joseph St. Patrick Church, 702 Columbia Street, Utica, NY.
