Obituary of Amelia (Sheheen) Stovall

   Mrs. Amelia (Sheheen) Stovall, 97, a resident of Valley Health Services in Herkimer, and formerly a longtime resident of Humphrey Gardens in North Utica, passed away on Friday, February 21, 2025, at the nursing home.

     Amelia was born in Utica on August 5, 1927, the daughter of Anthony and Rose (Joseph) Sheheen and received her education in Utica schools. At one time, she was employed at Rome Air Base in Rome, NY and later at General Electric Aerospace company in Utica. Amelia was a longtime parishioner of St. Peter’s Church in N. Utica.  She enjoyed fishing, sewing, art, golf, proudly acing a hole-in- one, was an avid NY Yankees fan and a meticulous house keeper. She also enjoyed spending the winter months in Plant City, FL with her companion, Paul F. Cataldo, and her greatest joy was spending time with her beloved family.

     Amelia is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Dyana and Chester Cornacchia of Remsen; four sons and three daughters-in-law, Darrell and Catherine Stovall of Utica, Wayne and Ulla Stovall of VA, Dale Stovall and Dannielle Pilon of VA and Gale and Patricia Stovall of Herkimer; 15 cherished grandchildren, who affectionately called her “Sito”, Anthony Cornacchia, Brian (N. Emily) Cornacchia, Joseph (Leah) Cornacchia, James (deceased) (Christal) Cornacchia, Jessica (Jason) Hamilton, Jaclyn (Kevin) Countryman, Eric (Sara) Stovall, David (Kelly) Stovall, Elena (Rhett) Gerrald, Mellissa Stovall, Christopher Stovall, Anthony Stovall, Andrew Stovall, Nicholas (Kate) Stovall and Benjamin (Katherine) Stovall; 17 adored great grandchildren, Anthony “TJ”, Austin, Autumn, Sebastian, Salvatore, Giovanni, Vincenzo, Skylar, Harlie, Carson, Cora, Alana, Heidi, Nathan, Ana, Evelyn and Thomas; sister-in-law, Phyllis Sheheen as well as many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her ex-husband Dale Dean Stovall; grandson, James Cornacchia; four sisters, Minnie (Ferris) Betrus, Julia (Louis) Ciccotti, Helen Sheheen and Jeannette (Joseph) Kaminski and four brothers, Sam (Helen) Sheheen, James Minnie) Sheheen, Ralph June) Sheheen and Raymond Sheheen.

   There are no services planned at this time. A service to celebrate Amelia’s life will be held in the spring.
