James Mitchell Goppert, 65, Passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, March 2, 2025, at his residence.
Mitch was born on February 25, 1960, in Utica, NY, the son of the late Joseph and Helen (Odit) Goppert, Jr. Mitch was raised and educated in Utica. Mitch proudly enlisted in the US Army where he served in Desert Storm and received an honorable discharge. Mitch enjoyed the outdoors and visiting his grandchildren.
Mr. Goppert is survived by his wife Tracey Goppert, Utica, daughter Lori (Uli) Degwert, GA, son Jon (Tressia) Shepard, Utica, sisters Leatrice (David) Doolen, NE, Dawn (predeceased Michael) DiNitto, Ilion, NY, Alice Zayas (Greg Mosher), Utica, Sister in law Anna (predeceased Allen)Goppert, Tabbitha (Paul) Smith, UT, grandchildren Chloe, Chad, Michael, Chevez, Shalia, Christina, Jon Jr., Jarrod, Giana, several great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Mitch was predeceased by his parents Joseph, Helen, son James Goppert, Jr., sibling Alice, Joseph, Edward, and infant H. Odit.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to Mitch’s visitation on Wednesday, March 19, 2025 from 3-5 PM from the Heintz Funeral Service, Inc, 1517 Whitesboro Street, Utica, NY.
