Obituary of Mary Elizabeth Nephew

      Mrs. Mary Elizabeth Nephew, 74, a resident of Utica Rehabilitation and Nursing Center in Utica, passed away on Friday, March 14, 2025, at the nursing home with her loving family by her side.

     Mary was born in Utica, on May 29, 1950, the daughter of Joseph and Mary (Gilbert) Hill. She was raised in Utica and was a graduate of Utica Free Academy. Mary was married to David Nephew until his death in 2024. Mary enjoyed the casino, bingo and loved to dance. Her greatest joy was spending time with her beloved family and especially her cherished grandchildren and great grandchildren who were the light of her life. She was of the Protestant faith.

     Mrs. Nephew is survived by her two daughters and one son-in-law, Brenda and John Powers of Utica and Margaret Pendolf of New Hartford; six cherished grandchildren, Courtney Haas (Matt), Cassondra Powers (Zack), Megan Pendolf, Daniel Tournier, John Pendolf and Austin Galindez; seven adored great grandchildren, Cameron Haas, Dominic Karas, Wyatt Tournier, Xavier Blanco, Xiomara Blanco, Jaiden Ludden and Matthew Bacon; one sister Madaline Kravec of Clayville; one brother, Joseph Hill of Utica; sister-in-law, Dawn Hill of Alabama; her Godson, Peter Kravec and two dear friends, Marte and Carolyn Nicholson as well as several nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her sister, Gail Florentine and brother, Irving Hill.

     Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to Mary’s celebration of life on Saturday, March 29, 2025 from 4:00-6:00 PM at the Utica Elks Lodge # 33, 1315 Champlin Ave, Utica, NY 13502.
