Obituary of Mark T. Salerno

     Mark T. Salerno, 61, of Marcy, NY, passed away on Sunday, April 6, 2025, at Wynn Hospital with his loving family by his side.

     Mark was born in Utica, on May 1, 1963, the son of Barbara (Pilnicki) (Salerno) Ziezio and the late Vincent S. Salerno. He was raised in Utica and was a graduate of Utica Free Academy. At one time, Mark was employed as a tractor trailer driver for Herkimer Wholesale, later at the House of the Good Shepherd and was co-owner of Global Express (Clinton Moving and Storage) in Florida. Most recently he was employed as a security hospital treatment assistant at Central New York Psychiatric Center in Marcy. Mark loved photography as well as spending time at Sylvan Beach where he found the most wonderful scenes to photograph, and he was of the Catholic faith.

     Mark is survived by his loving mother, Barbara (Salerno) Ziezio; two brothers and one sister-in-law, Anthony Salerno and his fiancée Kati Ferguson and Eddie and Roseanne Smith; two sisters and one brother-in-law, Melissa and Micheal Olsen and Mandie Troy-Evans; two aunts and one uncle, Sandra Price and Vicky and Bob Zysk; dear friends, Bonnie Dye, Greg Mosher and Alice Goppert, Kellie Pritchard, Chris Difondi and Dorothy Groudas as well as several nieces, nephews and additional friends too numerous to mention. Besides his father, Mark was predeceased by his brother, Vincent A. Salerno; maternal and paternal grandparents; two nieces, Renee and Rachelle Salerno; one aunt, Gloria Williams; two uncles, Joseph Price and Joseph Williams and his feline companion, Mary.

     Relatives and friend are respectfully invited to Mark’s memorial Mass of Christian burial on Saturday, April 26, 2025, at 12:00 noon at St. Joseph & St. Patrick Church 702 Columbia St., Utica.
