Mr. Donald M. Plunkett, 77, of North Utica, passed away on Friday, April 4, 2025, at Wynn Hospital in Utica.

     Donald was born on February 7, 1948, the son of Fred and Minerva (Farrell) Plunkett. He attended Ilion High School and college in Albany. For 6 years, Donald proudly served in the United States National Guard. Don and his wife (Sharon Wieliczka) were married for 56 years. Most of their lives, they resided in Ilion, NY and later in North Utica. Don was employed at Remington Arms Company in Ilion for 34 years until his retirement. Don enjoyed music, especially from the 60’s, as well as movies and sports. He was an avid NY Giants fan from a very young age. He also enjoyed visiting with family and friends at Piesco Lake in the Adirondacks. Don had a great sense of humor and enjoyed sharing that humor with all. He had a soft spot in his heart for children and always had time to share with them.

     Don is survived by his wife Sharon; his brother and sister-in-law, David and Brenda Plunkett as well as his very special nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his beloved daughter, Carrie Ann Plunkett; parents, Fred and Minerva Plunkett; in-laws Stanley and Julia Wieliczka and brother-in-law, Robert Wieliczka and his wife.

     In keeping with Don’s wishes, there are no calling hours, and a private service will be held at the convenience of the family.

     Funeral Arrangements are entrusted to Heintz Funeral Service, Inc., N. Utica.
