Mr. Louis (Louie) A. Collea, 88, of N. Utica, passed away on Tuesday, April 15, 2025, at Wynn Hospital with his loving family by his side.

     Louie was born in Utica, on December 9, 1936, the son of Anthony and Jennie (Recupero) Collea. He was raised in Utica and was a graduate of Proctor High School. Louie proudly served in the US Army from 1960 until his honorable discharge in 1962. For many years, Louie was employed as a regional manager with McDonalds Corporation and later as a technician with PAR Technology Corporation in Utica. In retirement, Louie enjoyed greeter/security positions at Ventura’s Restaurant and Oneida National Bank, aligning perfectly with his love of meeting and socializing with people from all walks of life.  He was a member and past president of the Kiwanis Club in Utica. He enjoyed shooting, curling and was of the Catholic faith. His main joy was his family, never missing an event or celebration. He was a Collea family historian, always sharing family history and entertaining stories from generations past. Louie will lovingly be remembered for his wonderful sense of humor who loved to make people laugh, especially with his famous “dad jokes.”

     Mr. Collea is survived by two sisters and one brother-in-law, Nancy Joynt of St. Louis, MO and Bernadette and Greg Raab of N. Utica as well as numerous beloved nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, great-great nieces and nephews, and many cousins. He was predeceased by three brothers and sisters-in-law, Anthony (Shirley) Collea, Dr. Joseph (Margaret) Collea and Carmen (Joann) Collea.

     Louie’s large, extended family was truly blessed to have him in their lives. He was the first to lend a hand, and was always present for his family with support, encouragement, and a kind word. His compassion, energy, and smile will be missed.

     Visitation for family and friends will be held on Saturday, May 17,2025 from 1:00-3:00 PM at the Heintz Funeral Home, 408 Herkimer Rd. N.Utica followed by a service to celebrate Louie's life at 3:00 PM at the conclusion of visitation. He will be laid to rest with his parents in Calvary Cemetery in Utica, at the convienance of his family.
