Obituary of Shirley A. Mason

    Ms. Shirley A. Mason, 80, of Marcy, NY, passed away on Tuesday, April 22, 2025 at the Colonial Park Rehabilitation and Nursing Center in Rome, NY.

     Shirley was born in Rome, NY, on May 22, 1944, the daughter of Stanley and Rose (Paluck) Karpinski. She was a graduate of Boonville High school and CCBI Business School in Syracuse. For many years until her retirement, Shirley was employed as a secretary at the NY State School for the Deaf in Rome, NY. Shirley enjoyed shopping, she loved to decorate her home and was of the Catholic faith. Her greatest joy was her family and especially her adored grandchildren and great grandchildren who were the light of her life.

     Ms. Mason is survived by her loving children: her daughter, Rebecca Mason of N. Utica and her son and daughter-in-law, Curt and Christine Mason of Marcy; three cherished grandchildren, Mason T. (Bethany) Burns of Floyd, Taylor (Anthony) LaGatta of New Hartford and Michael Mason and his fiancée, Kelsey LaVine of Marcy; two adored great grandchildren, Addison Burns and Kennedy Burns; her sister and brother-in-law, Barbara and Mitch Maryhugh of Boonville; her brother and sister-in-law, Frank and Anita Karpinski of Boonville and her nephew and niece, Brian (Vicky) Karpinski of Boonville and Mindy Maryhugh of Boonville; she was predeceased by her parents, Stanley and Rose.

     Visitation for family and friends is Monday, April 28, 2025 from 11:00 AM until 12:00 noon at the Heintz Funeral Home, 408 Herkimer Rd., N. Utica, followed by a funeral service at 12:00 Noon at the conclusion of visitation. She will be laid to rest in St. Joseph Cemetery in Boonville, NY.
