Lucy M. Cooper Obituary

     Lucy M. Cooper, 75, of Frankfort, passed away Wednesday, April 30, 2025.


     Lucy was born in Ilion, NY, on December 25, 1949, the daughter of Leon F. and Evelyn G. (Withers) Cooper. She graduated from Frankfort High School and went on to earn her bachelor’s degree in teaching from the State University of New York at Fredonia, followed by her master’s degree in library studies from Syracuse University. Early in her career, she was employed as an English teacher at Knox School on Long Island, later at Richfield Central School and for many years until her retirement, she worked in the library at Utica College. Lucy enjoyed crossword puzzles, jigsaw puzzles, knitting and was an avid reader. She was of the Methodist faith.


     Ms. Cooper is survived by two sisters and one brother, Jewell Kent of Remsen, Peter (Sharon) Cooper of Frankfort and Ila Cooper of Frankfort; her sister-in-law, Martha Cooper as well as several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents, Leon and Evelyn; two sisters, Joann (Jack) Wheeler and Joan (Robert) Ward and one brother, Leon C. “Jake” Cooper.


     In keeping with Lucy’s wishes, there are no calling hours or services. She will be laid to rest with her parents, at Ferguson Cemetery in Frankfort, NY.


     Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Heintz Funeral Service, Inc., Utica.
