Mrs. Beverly Ann Piechowicz, 96 ½, a resident of Utica Rehabilitation and Nursing Center, in Utica, formerly of Marcy, NY, passed away on Tuesday, July 2, 2025, at the nursing home.
Beverly was born in Utica, on December 11, 1928, the daughter of Edwin and Clara (Cullen) Golbach. She was raised locally, was a graduate of Whitesboro High School and earned her bachelor’s degree from Utica College. On October 29, 1955, Beverly was united in marriage with Fred F. Piechowicz at Sacred Heart Church in Utica, a loving and devoted union of 50 years until Fred’s passing in 2005. At one time, Beverly was employed at Upstate Cerebral Palsy and later as a patients advocate at Utica State Hospital. She was a member and past president of the Board of Visitors with the Utica Psychiatric Center, a member of Beta Sigma Phi Sorority, the Ladies of the Hibernians, VFW Malsan Jones Post 7393 Ladies Auxiliary, the Marcy Seniors and a 65-year member of the Maynard Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary. Beverly was also a longtime parishioner and choir member at Historic Old St. John’s Church in Utica.
Mrs. Piechowicz is survived by two loving daughters, Audrey Claire Piechowicz of Alpine, WY and Mari Elaine (Geoff) Brear of Bogner Regis, West Sussex, England; two step-grandchildren, Douglas Brear and Kieron Brear and a step great granddaughter, Ella Brear. She was predeceased by a sister, Bernadette Golbach;
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to Beverly’s funeral Mass of Christian burial on Thursday, July 17, 2025 at 10:00 a.m. at Historic Old St., John’s Church, John St., Utica. She will be laid to rest with her beloved Fred in St. Joseph Cemetery in Yorkville. Visitation for family and friends is Wednesday, July 16th from 4:00-7:00 p.m. at the Heintz Funeral Home, 408 Herkimer Rd., N. Utica.
