Mr. Michael George Peart, 76, a resident of Colonial Park Rehab and Nursing Center in Rome, passed away on Wednesday, July 16, 2025, at the nursing home with his loving family by his side.

    Michael was born in Jamaica, West Indies on January 28, 1949, the son of Soloman Peart and Maude Rigg. He was raised in Jamaica and was a graduate of St. Aloysius High School. Michael migrated to the United States on August 24, 1969, and made it his home. He earned a certificate as a registered dietician from Adelphi University on Long Island, NY. Prior to the tragic events of 9/11, he was employed at the Windows on the World Restaurant in NY City. Michael was an outstanding cook and will most be remembered for his positive outlook on life as well as being a great family man. He was of the Catholic faith.

    Mr. Peart is survived by his loving partner, Theresa Matherson; five children, Michael, Jr., Qua, Naya, Isaiah and Malia; grandchildren, Mikia, Malik, Empress, Alexis, Zaire, Maya, Skylar, Aziyah, Amir, Amil, Teric, Ace, Jade’Rose, Ashton, Alani, and Asan; great grandchildren, Izara, Iohla and Kameron and three cousins who were like sisters to Michael, Delrose McDonald, Isabella Ward and Joy Samuel; He was predeceased by his parents, Soloman and Maude and his dear aunt Bethual Sutherland who raised Michael.

   Visitation for family and friends is Saturday, August 2, 2025, from 1:00-3:00 P.M. at the Heintz Funeral Home, 1517 Whitesboro St., Utica, followed by a prayer service and time to share fond memories of Michael.
