Robert was a 1957 graduate of Utica Free Academy.  He served in the United States Army during the Korean War from 1953-1955 and received several accommodations for his service.  He was a member of the American Legion Utica Post 229 in North Utica.

He enjoyed baseball, NASCAR, woodworking, puttering around his property and genealogy.  When their kids were younger, Robert and Irma enjoyed playing cards with his parents, sister and brother-in-law, and his uncle and aunt on Saturday nights.  He enjoyed hosting the Christmas Eve gathering and loved having family over for other celebrations. Robert loved telling corny jokes and more times than not, goofed up the punch lines.  He was usually seen wearing his cowboy hat.

Robert was a member of the First Baptist Church in North Utica and was a man of great faith who loved God and his family.
