Mary D. Rankin Obituary

     Mrs. Mary D. Rankin, 94, a resident of The Friendly Home, in Rochester, formerly of Utica, passed away on Tuesday, October 7, 2025.


     Mary was born in Shamokin, PA on September 6, 1931, the daughter of Michael and Mary Spiak Spock. She was raised and educated in Shamokin and was a graduate of Coal Township High School. On December 26, 1953, Mary was united in marriage with Duncan A. Rankin, a loving and devoted union of 50 years, until Duncan’s passing in 2003. For many years, until her retirement, Mary was employed as a dental assistant at the Dental Office of Dr. George Reilly in New Hartford and was a member of Hope Alliance Church in New Hartford. Mary was a woman of deep faith. Her love for her Lord and her beloved family was foremost in her life.


     Mrs. Rankin is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Susan and Paul Lucci of Rochester, NY; son and daughter-in-law, Dr. Bruce and Dr. Jocelyn Rankin of Bedford, PA; four cherished grandchildren, Nicole (Christopher) McClurg of Webster, NY, Frank Lucci of Rochester, NY, Keith (Kathleen) Rankin of Levittown, PA and Danielle (Cameron) Sprowls of Bedford, PA; adored great grandchildren, Lucy, James Eleanor and Grayson as well as several nieces and nephews. She was the youngest and last surviving child of Michael and Mary Spock.


     Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to Mary’s funeral service on Monday, October 13, 2025, at 11:00 am at the Heintz Funeral Home, 1517 Whitesboro St., Utica. She will be laid to rest with her beloved husband in Crown Hill Memorial Park in Kirkland.
