Patricia Mary Sloan passed away peacefully on November 21, 2025 in Charleston, SC where she lived most recently with her son Michael and his family.

     Born in Utica, New York, she was the daughter of the late Charles and Dorothy Lubey, and sister of the late Regina ‘Jean’ A. Paoni.

     A 1953 Graduate of St. Francis DeSales, Pat was employed at the Utica Observer Dispatch until her marriage to the late John W. Sloan in 1955. During her years as a homemaker and nurturing mother, she served as Den Mother for the Webelos and a Religious Education Teacher. She was later employed by the Montgomery Ward department store as a Department Supervisor and Fleet Bank until her retirement. Pat was a devoted member of St. Mark’s Catholic Church in North Utica and an active member of the St. Mark’s Rosary Society.

     Known for her warmth, generous spirit, and sense of humor, Pat would light up every room she entered. She was an amazing and loving Mother to all her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great grandchild. She will truly be missed by all.

     She is survived by her six children, Michael Sloan (Dorothy), John Sloan (Joni), Paul Sloan (Trudy), Katheryn Nakayama (Takuya), Mary Miller (James), and Mark Sloan (Brenda). Pat is also survived by her grandchildren Tiffany Tucker, Kevin Sloan, Karen Sloan, Ryan Sloan, Amy Best, Kelley Fike, Kengo Nakayama, Marina Mlynar, Kelly Meola, Alexis Miller, Heather Sloan, several great-grandchildren, a great-great grandchild, and many loving nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was predeceased by her parents, husband, sister, granddaughter Krystal Kantala, and great-grandson Cappy Toro.

      A funeral mass and burial in Utica, New York will take place in Spring 2026 and arrangements will be announced at a later date.
