Jacqueline L. King Obituary

Mrs. Jacqueline L. King, 82, of Utica, passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 1, 2026, at Wynn Hospital, with her loving family by her side.

Jacqueline was born in Utica on November 6, 1943, the daughter of William and Edna (Hool) Gagnon. She was raised in Utica and educated in Utica schools. On November 14, 1959, she was united in marriage to Manuel “Butch” A. King at Zion Lutheran Church. Their marriage was later blessed at St. Joseph & St. Patrick Church in Utica where she attended church often. A woman of simple joys, Jacqueline was an avid reader who delighted in crossword puzzles, knitting, and bowling. Above all, she cherished her role as wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Her home was always filled with warmth, laughter, and children — not only her own beloved family, but many neighborhood children who found comfort and kindness at her side. If you saw Jacqueline, you were sure to see a host of little ones nearby, drawn to her gentle spirit and loving heart.

She is survived by her beloved husband of 66 years, Butch; her loving children, Tony and Ann King of New Hartford, Angela Soja and Dr. Dan Murphy of Sauquoit, Michael and Katy King of New York Mills, Robin Kennedy of Utica, and Lori and Benny Morosco of Yorkville; her sister, Roseanne (Jim) Magee of North Utica; her brothers, Raymond Gagnon of Marcy and Robert (Wanda) Gagnon of North Utica; her sisters-in-law, Dorothy Gagnon and Sharon Gagnon; as well as 15 cherished grandchildren, 22 treasured great-grandchildren, and many beloved nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and great-nephews. In addition to her parents, Jacqueline was predeceased by her infant son Robert James King and siblings: William Gagnon, James (Dolores) Gagnon, Joseph Gagnon, Edward Gagnon, Alice (Bert) Hoole, Beatrice (William) Palmer, Marylou (Pat) Zenobio, Arlene (Joseph) Appler, and John (Cynthia) Gagnon; and her sisters-in-law, Rosemary Gagnon and Mary (Tony) Fanelli.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend Jacqueline’s Mass of Christian Burial on Friday, March 6, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Joseph & St. Patrick Church, 702 Columbia Street, Utica. She will be laid to rest in Holy Trinity Cemetery, Yorkville. Calling hours will be held on Thursday, March 5th, from 4:00–7:00 p.m. at Heintz Funeral Home, 1517 Whitesboro St., Utica.
