Marcus E. Davis Obituary
Dr. Marcus Eugene Davis was born on December 12, 1972, in Atlanta, Georgia. He was the first of two children born to the late Pastor Pasty Ruth Perry and Melvin Eugene Davis.
Marcus accepted the Lord as his Savior at an early age and remained devoted in his faith, serving Him faithfully throughout his life.
Marcus attended the Atlanta Public School System and graduated from Walter F. George High School. He later attended Fort Valley State University, where he initially majored in Biology before realizing that Political Science was his true passion. Marcus later earned his Doctorate of Theology from The Great Commission Ministry College.
Dr. Marcus Eugene Davis was an entrepreneur whose creativity led him to establish several ventures under the “DBS” umbrella, including a Christian radio station and a Christian podcast designed to inform and inspire listeners with faith-based news and discussions.
Throughout his life, Marcus remained active in civic and political matters. He authored a thought-provoking article for CNN, assisted several political candidates as a campaign manager, and established himself as a lobbyist for the City of Atlanta. Driven by his desire to serve the community, Dr. Davis ran for the Georgia State Senate position in 2012 and again in 2014.
Later in life, he pursued a career as a tractor-trailer driver, a profession he truly loved and found great fulfillment in. Despite his many accomplishments, Marcus valued nothing more than the love and connection he shared with his family.
Dr. Marcus Eugene Davis was preceded in death by his mother, Pastor Pasty Ruth Perry, and his father, Melvin Eugene Davis.
He leaves to cherish his memory his loving wife, Kendra Owens-Davis; stepdaughter, Brittany M. Owens; stepson, Jeremy X. Owens; and his beloved grandson, Cairo O. Tomlinson of New York. He also leaves his sister-in-law, Ashlee J. Owens of Georgia; his stepfather, Deacon Claxton Perry of Georgia; his sister, Quitts Anfield; his niece, Diamond Walton; his nephew, Denorris Walton; and his great-niece, Nah'la Walton.
He is also survived by a host of uncles, aunts, cousins, and dear friends who became extended family.
The Davis–Owens family would like to thank everyone for the prayers, calls, and messages of support they have received during this difficult time. Your love and kindness are deeply appreciated.
With love,
