Jeanette A. Fischer passed away peacefully on Saturday March 14, 2026, at the Charles T. Sitrin Health Care Center.

Jeanette was born in Utica on May 8, 1940, the daughter of the late Genaro D'Ambro and Anna (Zegarelli). She was raised and educated in Utica and was a graduate of Proctor High School. On August 18, 1962, she was united in marriage to Richard Fischer at St. Joseph St. Patrick Church, sharing many loving years together until his passing on December 6, 2002.

 Jeanette was previously employed as a Telephone Operator for the New York Telephone Company. She was also a devoted parishioner of St. Joseph–St. Patrick Church in Utica.

Jeanette enjoyed a wide range of hobbies and pastimes. She loved bowling, cake decorating, playing bingo, trips to Turning Stone Casino, sewing, cooking, gardening and going up to her camp at Kayuta Lake. Most of all, she cherished the time she spent babysitting and caring for her grandchildren.

Jeanette is survived by her four loving daughters, Cheryl Fischer of New Hartford, Dorene Fischer of Rome, Lisa and (Richard) Augustine of Whitesboro, and Michelle Battin and (Frank Hoyt) of Yorkville. She also leaves ten cherished grandchildren, Dana and (Fred) Jerzak, Jared Fischer, Aaron Wilson, Brandon Wilson and (Stephanie Jadhon), Kelly and (Derek) Almeida, Vincent and (Michalyn) Augustine, Samantha and (Kyle) DeShaw, Jessica Battin, Nicole Battin, and Robbie Battin II and (Kylie Miles).

She is also survived by seven great-grandchildren, Grace Jerzak, Mila Wilson, Raymond Wilson, Rylan Almeida, Madelynn Almeida, Joseph Augustine and Sophia DeShaw.

Jeanette is also survived by her Brother Carmen (Rosalie) D’Ambro and a sister-in-law Dorothy Fischer.

Jeanette was predeceased by her beloved husband, Richard; brother Louis D’Ambro, sisters Madelyn D’Ambro, and Mary Rocco, brother-in-law Joseph Fischer, nephew David D’Ambro, and great-grandson Gavin Jerzak.

A memorial service to celebrate Jeanette’s life will be held on Monday, March 23, 2026, at 12:30 p.m. at Mary, Mother of Our Savior Parish (Our Lady of Lourdes Church campus). Family will receive guests at the conclusion of the service. Entombment will follow at Holy Trinity Mausoleum.
