Mr. Richard J. Jakubowski, 65, of Yorkville, passed away on Tuesday, March 31, 2026, at Wynn Hospital with his loving brother by his side.

     Richard was born in Utica on October 5, 1960, the son of Joseph and Mary (Slowik) Jakubowski. He was raised locally and was a graduate of New York Mills High School. He furthered his education at Herkimer County Community College, where he earned his associate’s degree. Richard began his career in television at WUTR in Utica and later continued his work at WSYR Channel 9 in Syracuse. Most recently, he was employed with Resonetics in New Hartford. He had a deep appreciation for antiques and could often be found attending antique shows and car shows. Richard was also a devoted parishioner of Historic Old St. John’s Church in Utica.

     Mr. Jakubowski is survived by his brother, Joseph Jakubowski of Yorkville, along with many dear friends; several being, Michael Majka, Bill Chromczak, James Stanek and Alan Orsino. He was predeceased by his beloved parents, Joseph and Mary.

     Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend Richard’s Mass of Christian Burial on Wednesday, April 8, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at Historic Old St. John’s Church, John Street, Utica. He will be laid to rest in St. Stanislaus and St. Casimir Cemetery in Whitesboro. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, April 7th from 3:00–5:00 p.m. at the Heintz Funeral Home, 1517 Whitesboro Street, Utica.

    Joe Jakubowski wishes to extend many thanks to the Wynn Hospital ICU nursing staff as well as the physicians and support personal who attended to Richard during his stay at the Hospital.
