Mr.  Thomas Joseph Stepanowicz, 77, of Marcy, passed away on Wednesday, May 6, 2026, at Wynn Hospital in Utica.

    Thomas was born in Utica on November 9, 1948, the son of Joseph and Gladys Helen (Czochanski) Stepanowicz. He was raised locally and was a 1966 graduate of Whitesboro High School. Tom furthered his education at Paul Smith’s College, where he earned an associate’s degree. Tom honorably served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. For many years, he worked in the landscaping industry and was most notably employed as the superintendent of Mount Olivet Cemetery in Whitesboro. Tom was a member of the Greenfield Fish and Game Club where he enjoyed target shooting and took great pride in teaching others, the proper techniques and safety practices of shooting. His greatest passion, however, was photography. He especially loved capturing sporting events and the beauty of nature through his lens. Tom was a man of Christian faith.

     Mr. Stepanowicz is survived by his sister, Therese “Teri” Murphy; his niece, Monica Rose (Michael) Sharma; his nephew, Eric (Sara) Smither as well as several great nieces and nephews. Also surviving are his dear friends, the Manoiero family and especially Agazio (Zio) whose friendship meant so much to him. In addition to his parents, Joseph and Gladys, he was predeceased by his brother, Lawrence.

     In keeping with Tom’s wishes, there are no calling hours or services planned. He will be laid to rest in St. Stanislaus & St. Casimir Cemetery in Whitesboro.
