James “Jim” Joseph Farrell Jr. passed away at the age of 73 on May 20, 2026, in Jacksonville, Florida surrounded by his close family after a short battle with cancer. 

     Jim was born in Brooklyn, NY on April 9, 1953, and as a teenager his family relocated to Holland Patent, New York. In 1972, he graduated from Holland Patent High School where he lettered in swimming and worked for Mele Manufacturing. Shortly after graduation, he married Delaine Wilcott and moved to Jacksonville, Florida where they raised their family. Though later divorced, they remained proud parents of their children. To support his family, Jim enjoyed working in the pool industry and eventually started his own pool construction business. Following the pool business, he was a devoted employee of Rinker Materials. Some of his hobbies included fishing, hunting, and coin collecting.

     He is survived by his children, Dienna (Russ), Jami, Jesse (Brittany), and Casey (Heather); and his granddaughter Haley, whom he raised and shared a special bond with. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Taylor, Austin, Jenna, Letty, and Athena; his sisters, Kathleen and Michelle; his aunts, Mary Lou and Patricia; along with many other dear family members and friends. Jim was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Madeline; siblings Diane, Joane, Edward, Gary, and Patricia; granddaughter Danielle; and mother-in-law Ethelyn Wilcott.

     Following Jim’s wishes, a graveside service will be held at Holland Patent Cemetery on June 4, 2026, at 11:00 a.m.

   In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Jim’s memory to organizations that were meaningful to him, including the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation and Special Olympics, or to a cancer charity of your choice.
