Judy A. Mondi Obituary

Judy A. (Citek) Mondi, 84, passed away peacefully on June 19, 2026, surrounded by her loving family, including her sons and cherished granddaughter.

Born in Utica on February 11, 1942, Judy was the daughter of Francis and Jerry Citek. She was a lifelong resident of the area, attended Utica schools, and graduated from Utica Free Academy with the Class of 1960. On June 25, 1966, Judy was united in marriage to the love of her life, Frank Mondi III, at Our Lady of Lourdes Church in Utica. Together they built a life centered on faith, family, and lasting memories. Judy dedicated many years of service to the United Food and Commercial Workers Union Local One, a position she took great pride in and thoroughly enjoyed. A woman of deep faith, Judy was a longtime member of Our Lady of Lourdes Church. Judy enjoyed painting and shared her artistic talents with those she loved. Many family members proudly display paintings she created over the years, treasured reminders of her creativity and generosity. Above all, Judy’s greatest joy was her family. She loved cooking for those she loved and especially cherished holidays and family gatherings when everyone could be together. Her home was a place where traditions were celebrated, memories were made, and everyone felt welcome.

She was a devoted wife, loving mother, and proud grandmother. Judy shared a special bond with her beloved granddaughter, Alyssa, her only grandchild, whose accomplishments and happiness brought her tremendous pride.

Judy will be remembered for the love she shared with her family, the meals she prepared around her table, the beautiful paintings she created, and the kindness she showed to everyone fortunate enough to know her.

She is survived by her loving sons, Michael Mondi and David Mondi; her cherished granddaughter, Alyssa; and many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends. Judy was predeceased by her beloved husband of many years, Frank Mondi III (2023); her parents, Francis and Jerry Citek; her brother, Jerry Citek; and her sisters, Rose Collins, Antoinette Delude, and Francis Calabrese.

Judy was also deeply loved by her many nieces and nephews. The family is especially grateful for the devotion shown by her nieces, Lisa and Patty, who faithfully visited Judy and spent precious time with her, particularly during her final weeks.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to Judy’s funeral Mass of Christian burial on Thursday, July 2, 2026, at 12:00 noon at Mary, Mother of Our Savior Parish, Our Lady of Lourdes Campus, 2222 Genesee St., Utica.
