Mr. Michael Winslow, Sr., 86 of Deerfield, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday August 9, 2026, at Wynn Hospital in Utica.

     Michael was born in Utica on April 29, 1940, the son of B. Eugene and Anne (O’Hara) Winslow. He was raised in Utica and was a 1957 graduate of Utica Catholic Academy. On July 22, 1967, Michael was united in marriage to Arlene Gladwin, with whom he shared 59 loving years. Michael dedicated 38 years of service to Chicago Pneumatic Tool Company and later spent eight years with Centrix Labs. A 53-year member of the Deerfield Volunteer Fire Company, Michael served in many leadership positions including, Captain on the line, Fire Police, as well as Vice President and Past Chairman of the Board of Directors. During his many years with the fire department, one of his favorite traditions was faithfully playing Santa Claus, bringing the magic of Christmas to the Town of Deerfield residents for 35 years. Michael enjoyed life’s simple pleasures, including bowling, trout fishing and golf. He was an avid fan of the Boston Red Sox, Syracuse Orangemen and New York Giants. He proudly hosted an annual St. Patrick’s Day party, a cherished tradition that brought family and friends together. Michael was a member of the Ancient Order of Hibernians and was a longtime parishioner of St. Peter’s Church in North Utica and Historic Old St. John’s Church in Utica.

     Mr. Winslow is survived by his beloved wife, Arlene; his loving son and daughter-in-law, Michael, Jr. and Kira Winslow of Vergennes, VT; and his cherished daughter and son-in-law, Maureen and Robert Hamlin of New Hartford. He also leaves behind his beloved granddaughter, Cedar Winslow of Oregon; his brother and sister-in-law, John and Judy Winslow of Manlius, NY; his brother-in-law and sisters-in-law, Chick and Aggie Gladwin of Texas and Barbara Gladwin of Rome, NY, as well as several nieces nephews and his feline companion, Manny. In addition to his parents, Gene and Anne, he was predeceased by his brother and sister-in-law, Bart and Sharon Winslow, a sister Kathy, and his brother-in-law, Ronald Gladwin.

     Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to Michael’s Mass of Christian burial on Monday, August 17, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Peter’s Church, 422 Coventry Ave., North Utica. He will be laid to rest in Mount Olivet Cemetery in Whitesboro. Visitation for family and friends is Sunday, August 16th from 3:00-6:00 p.m. at the Heintz Funeral Home, 408 Herkimer Rd., North Utica.
