Mrs. Helen C. Day, 69, of North Utica, passed away on Wednesday, August 12, 2026, at Wynn Hospital with her loving family by her side.

     Helen was born in Arta, Greece, on March 5, 1957, the daughter of Paul and Despina (Ayera) Caloyianis. Her family came to the United States when Helen was a young child and made their home in Utica. She was a graduate of Proctor High School and earned her bachelor’s degree in medical technology from Utica College of Syracuse University. On July 27, 1980, Helen was united in marriage to Robert W. Day at St. George’s Orthodox Church in Utica. Their loving and devoted marriage was blessed with 46 years together. For many years, Helen was employed as a Medical Technologist at St. Elizabeth Hospital, retiring in 2022. She enjoyed traveling with her husband and cherished the time they spent together. Helen was a faithful member of the Greek Orthodox Catholic faith.

     Mrs. Day is survived by her loving husband, Robert; her cherished son and daughter-in-law, Robert J. and Stacey Day of Schuyler and her three adored grandchildren, James, Amelia and Emily. Also surviving are her brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Bruce and Margaret Day of Summerville, South Carolina; her two nieces, Sarah Ruiz and Patricia Bennett and her nephew, Andrew Day.

     Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to Helen’s funeral service on Thursday, August 20, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at the Heintz Funeral Home, 408 Herkimer Rd., North Utica. She will be laid to rest in Forest Hill Cemetery in Utica. Visitation for family and friends is Wednesday August 19th from 4:00-7:00 p.m. Those wishing to honor Helen’s memory, are kindly asked to consider a donation to the Deerfield Volunteer Fire Company, 5476 Trenton Rd., Utica, 13502. Donation envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
