Mr. Marcus E. Vaeth, Jr., 92, of North Utica, passed away on Friday August 14, 2026, at Wynn Hospital with his loving family by his side.

     Marcus was born in Utica on July 31, 1934, the son of Marcus E. Sr. and Frances Vaeth. He was raised in Utica and was a graduate of St. Francis de Sales High School. Marcus proudly served his country in the United States Army from 1956 until his honorable discharge in 1958. On August 21, 1965, Marcus was united in marriage to the love of his life, Cynthia A. Watson. Together, they shared a loving and devoted union for 60 years, until Cynthia’s passing in April of this year. Throughout his career, Marcus was employed by Oneida National Bank, later served as a mental hygiene therapy aide at the Utica Psychiatric Center, and for many years worked for Oneida County Child Protective Services. Marcus was an avid runner and a proud member of the Steuben Striders Running Club. He participated in numerous Utica Boilermaker Road Races and enjoyed the camaraderie and challenge that running brought to his life. He also enjoyed painting and golfing with his grandsons, but his true passion was reading. Marcus was a parishioner of St. Peter’s Church in North Utica.

     Mr. Vaeth is survived by his loving daughter and son-in-law, Jennifer and Charles DePasquale of Marcy; his two cherished grandsons, Samuel DePasquale of Charlotte, NC and Joseph DePasquale of Marcy; his sister-in-law and brother-in-law Diane and Thomas Cutler of Deansboro, NY and his niece, Nancy (Duncan) Dubroff of TX. In addition to his beloved Wife Cynthia and parents Marcus, Sr. and (Moms Name), Marcus was predeceased by his brother and sister-in-law Jerry and Mary Vaeth.

     Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to Marcus’ Mass of Christian burial on Friday, August 28, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Peter’s Church, 422 Coventry Ave., North Utica. The family will greet visitors at the conclusion of Mass. He will be laid to rest with his beloved Cynthia in Mount Olivet Cemetery in Whitesboro.
