Peter Lally, 62, of Utica, formerly of Clinton, and Martha Vineyard, MA. passed away unexpectedley at his home, on January 24, 2013. Pete was born in Utica, NY on June 6, 1950, the son of Lamar and Joan (Welch) Lally. He was raised and educated in Utica, and was a graduate of Notre Dame High School. He later graduated from the Univ. of Denver. At Historic Old St. John's Church, on March 18, 1972, Peter was married to Sandra M. Smales. For a number of years , Pete has been self-employed as a Manufacturers Rep. with various companies. He had formerly been employed with the Fx Matt Brewing Co. and the Indium Corp. of Utica. Peter is a member of the Sadaquada Golf Club and the Edgartown Golf Course, from where he proudly held the course record of "64". Peter loved tennis, golf, and skiing, but mostly spending time with his grandchildren. He was a gentile, kind man, with a great sense of humor. He will be missed by his many good friends. Peter is survived by his wife and best friend, Sandy; a daughter, Hilarie Lally of Clinton; a son, Nathaniel Lally of New York City; three grandchildren, Ella, Jack, and Chloe Matteo, of Clinton. He also leaves a sister, Karen Lally of Rhinebeck, NY, and two sisters in law and brothers in law, Sharon and Ed Barber of Tortola, B.B.I., and Daniel and Susan Smales of Ft. Myers, FL. Peter was predeceased by his parents and his mother and father-in-law, Richard and Mary Smales. Calling hours for Peter will be held on Sunday, January 27, 2013 from 2:00 until 5:00 P.M. at the Heintz Funeral Home, 10 E.Park Row, Clinton , NY. His Funeral Service will be private and at the convenience of his family .
