Gladys B. LaBuz, 92, of Utica passed away January 13,2013 at Faxton-St. Luke's Healthcare Center. Gladys was born in Utica, on May 28, 1920, the daughter of Joseph and Rose (Sczamber) Ochniak. She was raised and educated in Utica. Gladys was married to John LaBuz in Utica, on October 16, 1943. She was a loving, caring stay at home housewife. Her children and grandchildren were the priority in her life. Gladys was a lifelong , devoted member of St. Joseph and St. Patrick's Church. Gladys is survived by two daughters, Barbara Sharpe of Utica, and Cecelia LaBuz of Utica; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Gregory and Ann Labuz of Anchorage, AK. and Tom LaBuz of Oneonta; a daughter-in-law, Sharon LaBuz of Munnsville; four grandchildren, Kristen and Kevin LaBuz, both of New York City, and Jon and Andrew LaBuz both of Munnsville ; and a sister, Matilda (Tillie) Alteri of FL. Gladys was predeceased by a son, Andrew in 2008; a sister, Mary Paliwoda, and a brother, Walter Ochniak. Mrs. LaBuz's Funeral will be held Thursday, January 17,2013 at 9:45 AM from the Heintz Funeral Home, 1517 Whitesboro St., Utica and at 10:30 AM at St. Joseph and St. Patrick's Church, Utica, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be offered. Her Rite of Burial will take place at St. Stanislaus and Casmir Cemetery, Whitestown. Calling hours at the Heintz Funeral Home, Utica, will be held Wednesday evening from 5:00 till 7:00 PM. Donations in Gladys's memory would be appreciated the Mother Marianne West Side Soup Kitchen at St. Joseph and St. Patrick's Church. The family wishes to express their appreciation to the Drs. and nurses at Faxton- St. Luke's CCU and ER, for all their care and compassion.
