Mr. Raymond S. Byrnes, 80, of Schuyler, passed away on Wednesday December 26, 2012 at St. Elizabeth Medical Center with his loving family by his side. Raymond was born in NY City on June 22, 1932 the son of Henry and Edna (Hart) Byrnes. He was a graduate of Ilion High School and earned his master's degree in business from Utica College. Raymond proudly served in the US Air Force during the Korean War. In Utica, on October 5, 1956, Raymond married Doris A. Kane. He was employed as an Industrial Engineer with Kelsey Hayes Corp, later with Bendix Corp. and most recently with Con-Med until his retirement. Raymond enjoyed gardening, long walks and watching Fox news. He loved spending time with his family and instilled in them the value of hard work. Mr. Byrnes is survived by his beloved wife, Doris; two daughters and sons-in-law, Cynthia and David Langone of Whitesboro and Linda and Michael Wusik of N. Utica; one son and daughter-in-law, Raymond W. and Pamela Byrnes of Ypsilanti, MI; five cherished grandchildren, Cory Langone and his wife Marie of Sarasota, FL, Megan Langone and Dennis Young of NY City, Jamie Tambe and her husband Thomas of S. Berwick, ME, Michael Wusik of Blacksburg, VA and Victoria Byrnes of Ypsilanti, MI; two adored great grandchildren, Angelina Langone and Vincent Tambe; one sister, Geraldine Byrnes of NC; two brothers and three sisters-in-law, Henry and Ava Byrnes of Dothan, AL, Ervine and Noreen Byrnes of Lakeland, FL and Margaret Byrnes of Canastota, NY as well as many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a precious great grandson, Luca Langone, one sister, Elizabeth and two brothers, Melvin and Wesley. In keeping with Raymond's wishes there are no calling hours or services. His burial will be in Crown Hill Memorial Park at the convenience of his family. Those wishing to make a donation in Raymond's name, please consider the Stevens-Swan Humane Society, 5664 Horatio St., Utica, NY 13502 Mr. Byrnes' family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the nurses and staff of the neuropediatrics unit and special care unit at St. Elizabeth Medical Center, especially, Dawne, Kathy and Nancy for the wonderful care and kindness given to Raymond. you are true Angels. A special thank you to Dr. Munir for the compassion you showed to Raymond and his entire family.
