Obituary of Eileen T. Goodenow

Eileen T. Goodenow, 92, of New Hartford, passed away at her home on Thursday, November 1, 2012, with members of her loving family by her side. Eileen was born August 19, 1920 in Cooperstown, NY, the daughter of Patrick and Margaret (Doran) Taugher. She was raised and educated in Cooperstown, and went on to graduate from business school. On June 25, 1945, Eileen married Frederick M. Goodenow at Our Lady of Lourdes Church in Utica. Mr. Goodenow passed away in 1995. Eileen was a parishioner of Our Lady of Lourdes Church and a member of their Women's Club. She enjoyed gardening and her word search books, but most of all, being with her family. Eileen loved attending her grandchildren's sporting events. Eileen is survived by one son and a daughter-in-law, Craig and Sharon Goodenow, Green Valley, AZ; six daughters and five sons-in-law, Kay and Gil Cooper, Rochester, NY, Mary Mills, Chandler, AZ, Patty and Conrad Spaulding, Cocoa, FL, Roxanne and Dick Stanek, Clinton, NY, Janet and Greg Sydoriw, Clinton, NY, Denise and Phil Beck, Whitesboro, NY. Also surviving are nineteen grandchildren and sixteen great grandchildren, as well as many nieces and nephews. Besides her husband, Eileen is predeceased by one son, Jack Goodenow, one sister, Patricia Taugher, and four brothers, Gregory, Reginald, Ogden, and Stuart Taugher. Mrs. Goodenow's funeral service will be held on Sunday, November 4, 2012 at 3 pm at the Heintz Funeral Home, 10 East Park Row, Clinton. Interment, in Calvary Cemetery, will take place at the convenience of the family. Relatives and friends are invited to call at the funeral home Sunday afternoon, from 1 - 3 pm prior to the service. Those wishing may donate to Hospice & Palliative Care in Eileen's memory. The family would like to thank Dr. Frederick, Bridget Arquette, FNP, and his staff for the care and kindness given to Eileen. Also thank you to the nurses and staff of Hospice & Palliative Care, Inc. and of the Visiting Nurses Association for their care during Eileen's illness. A very special thank you to both Kristie and JoAnn for the love and compassion shown to both Eileen and her family.
