Sgt. David A. Morelle, US Army, ret., 59, of Oriskany, passed away on Friday, July 27, 2018 at Faxton-St. Luke’s Healthcare in New Hartford. David was born in Utica, on May 30, 1959, the son of Frank and Margaret (Martin) Morelle and received his education in Utica schools. David proudly served in the US Army, Black Horse Regimen during Desert Storm. He continued his service in the Army until retiring in 1996. On November 16, 2002, David was united in marriage with Carol A. (Geddes) Wohlrab at St. Anthony’s Church in Utica. David was an avid guitarist and his favorite musician was Jimmy Hendricks. He was also a NASCAR fan and especially enjoyed following the careers of Dale Earnhardt and Dale Earnhardt, Jr. and was also a huge New England Patriots fan. He was a member of American Legion post 1113 in Whitesboro and was of the Catholic faith. Mr. Morelle is survived by his loving wife, Carol; one daughter and son-in-law, Dana and John Cosgrove; one son and daughter-in-law, David J. and Jenny Morelle; five cherished grandchildren, Mackenzie, Benjamin, Zachary, Anthony and Jackson; Carols children who David thought of as his own, Gerard Wohlrad, III and his wife Faith and Jennifer Wohlrab; three sisters, Liz Eaton, Carol Reese and Mary Hancher; three brothers and one sister-in-law, Frank Morelle, Joseph and Antoinette Morelle and Bill Morelle as well as several nieces and nephews. In keeping with David’s wishes there are no calling hours and his funeral and burial in Calvary Cemetery in Utica will be held privately at the convenience of his family. Arrangements have been entrusted to Heintz Funeral Service, Inc., Utica.
