Marie Gloria Joseph, 85, of the Presbyterian Home passed away on Tuesday, October 16, 2012 at the home. Marie was born in Utica on July 10, 1927 a daughter of Fred and Luna (Austin) Philo Stewart. In Utica in 1946 Marie was united in marriage to Louis Joseph a blessed union of 43 years until his death in 1989. For several years Marie was employed with the Globe Mill in Utica. Marie was a parishioner of Our Lady of Lourdes Church and St. Louis Gonzaga Church having taught religious education there for many years. She was an excellent cook and spent her free time crocheting items for family and friends. Most important, Marie's greatest joy was spending time surrounded by her family. Marie is survived by her three children and spouses; Lawrence and Rosemarie Joseph, Utica, Frederick Joseph, TX, and Selma and Michael Sewall, Whitesboro, five grandchildren, Lawrence Joseph, Jr., Utica, David Cicchelli, MD, Steven Joseph, VA, Jason Cicchelli, NJ, and Eleni Marketos, Utica, two great grandchildren, Carli Cicchelli, Ilion and Wolfgang Marketos, Utica, a brother, Fred Stewart, Syracuse and several nieces and nephews. Marie was predeceased by a brother, Leroy Philo. Mrs. Joseph's funeral will be held on Friday, October 19, 2012 at 11:00 at Our Lady of Lourdes Church where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Utica. There are no calling hours. The family will receive visitors at the conclusion of the mass. The family would like to thank the very special caretakers of the Presbyterian Home for all the loving given to Marie.
