Obituary of Cynthia D. Vance

Cynthia D. Vance 69, of New Hartford passed away at the Heritage Healthcare Center, October 8, 2012. Cynthia was born in Utica on October 9, 1942, the daughter of Andrew and Alexandria (Dziekonski) Kozak. She was raised and educated in Utica and was a graduate of Proctor High School. On February 6, 1965 at St Stanislaus Church, Utica, Cynthia was married to Stephen T. Vance. For a number of years, until her retirement in 2004, Cynthia was employed at WKTV as executive secretary to Shell Storrier and then Steve Marron . She had previously been employed with Commercial Travelers Insurance, St. Francis deSales Church, Utica Girl Scouts, and New York Mills High School. Cynthia was a member of the Eagles Club Ladies Auxillary, and the Whitestown Vets Club where she was an avid player of bocce and darts. She loved being with her children and grandchildren, cooking a traditional Polish dish for the holidays or playing a good game of pinnacle. She had a special effervescence to all animals, but especially her feline and canine friends. Cynthia is survived by her husband, Stephen; two daughters and sons in law, Tracey and John Cerminaro of NJ, Adrienne and Marc Matrulli of NJ; two sons and daughters in law, Stephen Jr. and Debra Vance of Garnerville, NY, and Jason and Kelli Vance of Utica; seven grandchildren, Nina, Sophia, Stephen III, Justine, Matthew, Ryan, and Aiden. Also surviving, are a brother and sister in law, Eugene and Linda Kozak of Westmoreland, and two sisters in law, Sally Vance and Judy Vance, and several nieces and nephews. Cynthia was predeceased by a granddaughter, Mia; and a brother and sister in law, Andrew and Virginia Kozak. Mrs. Vance's funeral will be held Friday, October 12, 2012, at 9:15 A.M. at the Heintz Funeral Home, 1517 Whitesboro St., Utica, and at 10:00A.M. at St. Joseph and St. Patrick Church, Utica, where her Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Her Rite of Committal and Burial will be at Holy Trinity Cemetery, Whitestown, NY. Calling hours will be held at the funeral home from 5:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M., Thursday evening. Donations in Cynthia's memory would be appreciated to Spring Farm Cares, New Hartford. Envelopes will be available.
