Richard C. Doyle, 81, of Deerfield, passed away peacefully with his wife and loving family by his side on Thursday, September 20, 2012 at Faxton-St. Luke's Healthcare, after a yearlong courageous battle with leukemia. He was born in Utica on August 13, 1931, the son of Chester and Marie (Funk) Doyle. His early education was at Blessed Sacrament School and he went on to graduate from Whitesboro Central High School, Class of 1949. On June 6, 1953, Richard married Virginia Babowicz at Holy Trinity Church, a blessed union of 59 years. Richard was formerly employed at Triad Tractor and Implement Corp in Yorkville and the Ford Motor Company. In 1993 he retired from Lucas Aerospace Power Transmission formerly the Bendix Fluid Power Corp., as a Production Control Expeditor. He was a faithful parishioner of St. Peter's Roman Catholic Church, N. Utica for over 60 years, serving as an usher for 50 years and more recently as a Eucharistic Minister. As for his hobbies, he enjoyed restoring early Mustangs, photography, woodworking and researching the early Boy Scout movement in Utica and the Central New York area. He became a volunteer in 1977 in the Upper Mohawk Boy Scout Council when his son joined Troup 95, sponsored by the Deerfield Elementary School. He is currently registered with the BSA, volunteering for 35 years, most recently with Troup 59, Deerfield and Troup 79, Marcy. He is a recipient of two national awards, the Silver Beaver Award from the Boy Scouts of America, for Distinguished Service to Youth, and the St. George Award from the Catholic Church, in recognition of outstanding service to the spiritual development of Catholic youth in the Boy Scout program. One of the greatest highlights of his life besides the accomplishment of his children and grandchildren, was to witness the young boys from his troops achieve the rank of Eagle Scout. Richard is survived by his beloved wife, Virginia; his daughter, Jeanie Ann and her husband Peter Chambrone of Holland Patent, his son James Doyle and his wife Lorena, Cicero, NY; grandchildren Brian and Kalyn Chambrone, Holland Patent, Kimberly Danielle Doyle, and Eric and Alan Munoz, Cicero, NY; a sister-in-law Julie and her husband William Booth, and a nephew Robert Booth all of Deerfield.
