Shirley Mae Gibbons, 78, a resident of the St. Luke's Home, formerly of New Hartford, passed away Wednesday, August 29, 2012 at the home. Shirley was born February 15, 1934 in Sauquoit, NY, the daughter of Frederick J. and Florence Mae (Malone) Gibbons. She was raised and educated in Sauquoit, graduating from Sauquoit High School. Shirley was employed with the Utica Observer-Dispatch. She is a former member of St. Patrick's Church, Clayville and of St. John the Evangelist Church, New Hartford. Shirley is survived by her sister, Jane Gibbons, Sauquoit; a dear friend, Fred Hert, Floyd; as well as by several cousins. Miss Gibbons funeral will be held on Friday, August 31, 2012 at 9:30 am at St. Mary's Church, Clinton where her Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Interment will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery, Clinton. In keeping with Shirley's wishes, there are no public calling hours. Arrangements are entrusted to the Heintz Funeral Home, 10 East Park Row, Clinton.
