Obituary of William D. Palmer

William D. "Bicky" Palmer, Jr., 65, of Clinton, passed away Tuesday, August 21, 2012 at St. Elizabeth Medical Center in Utica after a short illness. William was born in Utica on September 22, 1946, the son of the late William D. Palmer, Sr. and Beatrice (Gagnon) Palmer. He was raised and educated in Utica. On October 2, 1965, William married Sandra J. Scalzo in St. Mary's Church, Clinton. He was employed with Pedibone Corps. and then with Corts Trucking, retiring in 2004. William was an outdoorsman, enjoying hunting and fishing, but most of all, he loved watching his grandchildren play sports and dance. He was a member of St. Mary's Church in Clinton. William is survived by his wife, Sandra Palmer, Clinton; a daughter and son-in-law, Melissa and Mark Cannistra, Clinton; two sons and a daughter-in-law, William D. Palmer, III, Clinton, Joseph and Tori Palmer, Clinton; his mother, Beatrice Palmer, Oriskany; five cherished grandchildren, Lindsay, Damian, and Gianna Cannistra, Clinton, Julianna and Joseph Palmer, Clinton, and Michael Teasdale, who he referred to as a grandson; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Valarie and George Walchusky, Utica, Terry and Dennis Stark, Utica; two brothers, Rocco Palmer and his companion, Rosie Kupiec, Rome, and Joseph Palmer, Clayville and two sisters-in-law, Phyllis Scalzo and her husband Richard of VA and Mary Ann Younes and her husband James of Waterville. Also surviving are many nieces, nephews, and cousins. William is predeceased by his father, William, Sr., and by a sister, Sheila Palmer. A Memorial Mass for Mr. Palmer will be held on Saturday, August 25, 2012 at 9:30 am at St. Mary's Church, Clinton. Relatives and friends are invited to memorial calling hours at the Heintz Funeral Home, 10 East Park Row, Clinton on Friday evening, from 4 - 7 pm.
