Mr. George Richard "Dick" Geary, 71, of Utica passed away unexpectedly on Friday August 10, 2012 at Faxton-St. Luke's Healthcare in New Hartford with his loving and devoted family by his side. George was born in Utica on July 28, 1941 the youngest of 3 children, to Robert and Elizabeth (Green) Geary. He was raised in Whitesboro and attended Whitesboro Schools. In February of 1963, he married the love of his life, Elizabeth Grieco and the couple were blessed with one daughter, Wendy Geary. For many years, Dick was employed as an auto mechanic. Dick and Betty spent 10 years in Oklahoma and 18 years in California before returning to the area in 1991. Mr. Geary is survived by his daughter Wendy and son-in-law, Michael Harris of Utica; 2 cherished grandchildren, Justin Walker of St. Johnsville, NY and Lindsay Harris of Utica; 3 great grandchildren, Julie and Lily Clintsman and Zoey Nemcek; two sisters, Donna Cole of Rome and Jeanne Jones and her husband Donald of Rome and his in-laws, Lynne and Steve Flory of CA, whom he was very close with, Richard and Linda Grieco of CA, Joseph and Debi Grieco of CA and Mark and Frances Grieco of NE. He was predeceased by his beloved wife Betty in 2004. A memorial service, under the direction of Heintz Funeral Service, Inc., Utica will be held at a later date. Mr. Geary's family extends their heartfelt gratitude to Dr. Scott Brehaut as well as the staff at Faxton-St. Luke's Healthcare in New Hartford for the loving care and compassion you provided to Dick.
