Anthony J. Jonquil, 90, passed away on Tuesday, July 17, 2018 at his home. Anthony was born in Utica on April 17, 1928, a son of Nicholas and Helen (Mozzetti) Jonquil. He was raised and educated locally and served in the Navy during World War II. In Utica on January 31, 1953 Anthony was united in marriage to Betty Czerkies, a blessed union until her death on September 25, 2003. For many years Anthony co-owned and operated Jonquil and Son Body Works in Whitestown. Anthony is survived by his four children, Doreen Monroe, of Sylvan Beach, Elida Dapre and husband, Harry, of Utica, Nicholas Jonquil, of Whitesboro and Debbie Jonqui,l of Ilion, a sister-in-law, Carla Jonquil, of Utica and a goddaughter, Diane Mozzetti, of New Hartford. He is also survived by ten grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren. Anthony was predeceased by two brothers, Richard D. Jonquil and Nicholas W. Jonquil, Jr. In keeping with Anthony’s wishes there are no services. The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to Dr. Thomas John and the Staff of Hospice for all the loving care given to Anthony.
