Alan A. Durfey, 75, of North Utica, passed away July 25, 2012 at the Katherine Luther Home. Alan was born in Little Falls on August 14, 1936 the son of Arthur and Martha (Bailey) Durfey. He was raised in Little Falls by his parents and step parents, Arthur and Mary Durfey and Martha and Jack Foley, and graduated from Little Falls High School. On May 3, 1965 at Holy Trinity Church, Alan was united in marriage to Mary Ann Palczynski, a blessed union of 45 years until her passing on November 8, 2010. Through the years, Alan was employed with Loblaws , Chicago Market, Foodland, Carbone Dodge and Ed Blask Ford. Alan was a 40 year parishioner of St. Peter's Church, North Utica. In his spare time Alan enjoyed woodworking, home improvement, cars, boating and storytelling. Alan is survived by his loving family. David (son) and Kim Durfey, Syracuse, Michael Durfey (son), RI, Daniel (son) and Nicole Durfey, RI, Susan (daughter) and David Salerno, North Utica and Sharon (daughter) and Jim, Little Falls; seven grandchildren, Dominick, Stephanie, Anna, Ava, Thomas, Ryan and Trad; in-laws, Jacqueline and Fran Morgan, LI and Sunny and Jude Palczynski, Boonville, and many nieces, nephews and special friends. Alan's funeral will be held on Saturday July 28, 2012 at 11:15 from the Heintz Funeral Home, 408 Herkimer Rd, North Utica and at 12:00 from St. Peter's Church, North Utica. Burial will be in Holy Trinity Cemetery. Calling hours at the funeral home will be Friday (today) from 6 - 8 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society in Alan's memory. The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to the 3rd floor of St. Elizabeth's Medical Center, the Gordon Wing of the Lutheran Home, Kathy and Tracey of Helping Hands and to the many doctors that took care of Alan over the years.
