George O. Williams, Sr., 88, passed away on Saturday, July 14, 2018. George was born in Utica on July 4, 1930 a son of John H. and Mae (Foster) Williams. He proudly served in the Army during the Korean War. In New Hartford on August 24, 1953 George married Shirley R. Tillson. She passed away on February 6, 2010. For many years he was employed at the New Hartford Post Office and served part time as a New Hartford Police Officer. He was a life time member of the New Hartford Fire Department and the American Legion Post #1376, New Hartford. George is survived by his four children, George O. Williams, Jr and wife, Lorie of Stittville, Audrey Cousino of Leicester, VT, Jerry Williams and wife, JoAnne of Utica and Daniel Williams and wife, Socorro of Goleta, CA, and a sister, June Taylor of Utica. He is also survived by 11 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. George was predeceased by a daughter, Patricia Williams, 2 sisters, Florence Reppel and Jane Bates and 2 brothers, Marvin Williams and Jack Williams. Mr. William’s funeral will be held on Saturday, July 21, 2018 at 1:00 at the Heintz Funeral Home, 1517 Whitesboro St., Utica. Burial with Military Honors will take place in the Kirkland Cemetery.
